Rally Days are usually held on the third Sunday of each month but please check the Calendar for all event dates. We usually start at 9am during summer and 10am during winter.
Once you have unloaded your horse(s) please sign in. Everybody needs to sign in and out including visitors and junior riders. PLease note junior riders will need an adult to sign them in.
Children (under 15) need to be fully supervised by an adult at all times.
Junior riders must be supervised by a parent or guardian.
Prior to mounting you must obtain a Gear Safety Check for horse and rider and a warm up for you and your horse is strongly recommended.
What you need to bring
- a bucket of water for your horse
- approved standard, correctly fitting helmet (under 10 years old from date of manufacture)
- riding boots
- appropriate riding attire
- all riding equipment and tack (all tack to be approved by Gear Check Officer and unsafe tack will not be permitted)
- insect repellant, hat and sunblock
- horse feed
Please leave your area clean and tidy. Horse manure needs to be collected and disposed of in the designated areas.
Canteen
Lunch, cake or biscuits, cold drinks, tea and coffee are available. Lunch is always a delicious and value for money experience and all proceeds from our fabulous canteen go towards improving our club and its facilities. You can, of course, bring your own lunch. A microwave and fridge are available for use.
Safety
Safety and risk management are very important at Loxton Horse Riding Club. If you see anything that could be a potential hazard or problem please tell the Safety Officer or a committee member as soon as possible.
It is also strongly recommended that you have your own ambulance, personal accident and private health cover.
The Club has a "No Stallion" policy.
For risk management purposes, the general public and horses are separated. Therefore, you will find divided parking areas at the main entrance to the grounds - look for the signs. Please ensure you shut the gate when entering and exiting the main entrance.
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
From a risk management perspective, we encourage everyone to leave their dogs at home. However, if a dog is on a lead and seen to be managed within strict safety boundaries, this will be sufficiently patrolled and dealt with by the Safety Officer.
In case of emergency we have two designated Emergency Assembly Areas:
Area No. 1 is at the main entrance : 3015 Kingston Road, Pyap, next to the bitumen road
Area No. 2 is on the Loxton side of the grounds along Milch Road, an unsealed public road down to the river.
Please look to the instructors or the Safety Officer to be directed to the appropriate area.
A monthly newsletter is produced which is an excellent communication tool for our club. Upcoming events, rally day lessons, guest instructors, guest clinic information, items for sale and general tips are available in the newsletter. Members will receive the newsletter by email or post and is included in the membership fees. Non members can receive the newsletter for free by email or by post for a $10 annual fee. Please feel free to send your contributions to the newsletter by email.
Committee Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month and everyone is welcome to attend.
We welcome comments, feedback, suggestions and and questions. You can speak directly to a Committee Member, send us an email or use our suggestion book on Rally Days.
